A man has died following a collision in Newchapel.

The incident occurred in West Park Road around half-past nine Sunday night.  A black Nissan Navara was also involved and it failed to stop.

The 40 year-old pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

A second pedestrian involved was taken to East Surrey Hospital in Redhill and has since been released.

Police have arrested a 37-year-old man on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, causing death by careless driving and driving whilst unfit through drink.
