Bletchingley Benefit Fraud Fine

A Bletchingley man has been fined having pleaded guilty to benefit fraud at Redhill Magistrates’ Court.

Last Tuesday, (24 Nov) Peter Adams, of Hart Close, admitted failing to tell the Department of Work and Pensions of his change in circumstances.

This led to an overpayment of Employment and Support Allowance of £7,029.

Mr Adams was given a £270 fine, ordered to pay the Council’s costs of £250 and £27 towards the victim support fund.

He received the overpayment between December 2013 and September 2014, as he had failed to tell the DWP about his employment.
