CEO Of Gatwick Disappointed At Heathrow Runway Decision

The Chief Executive of Gatwick Airport has expressed disappointment at the Government’s decision to build a new runway at Heathrow.

Stewart Wingate said that Gatwick had a plan that could guarantee growth and guarantee certainty for Britain. He also stated that Gatwick stands ready to proceed when the time comes. Various local organisations have also responded.

West Sussex County Council recognises that local communities worried about the noise and environmental impact of a second runway at Gatwick, will welcome the decision. The Council also states that they will work with the Government, the airport, and local businesses to mitigate any negative impact of the decision on the county.

Members of the Gatwick Co-ordination Group have welcomed the decision to build a new runway at Heathrow rather than at Gatwick.
