Pupils going to first choice junior schools down on year before

Fewer junior school pupils in Surrey got either their first choice school or one of their top 3 preferences this year, compared to 2016.

89.6% are going where they wanted, compared to 90.3% the year before.

For reception first choice places, however, it’s increased by 4% to 86.4%.

Despite the numbers, overall every child who needed a place at a junior or reception school got one.
