Fire engines in Surrey could soon carry oxygen masks for dogs.

The RSPCA and the charity Smokey Paws have paid for kits in East Sussex and now plan to do the same for neighbouring fire services.

With 46% of houses in the UK having a pet, smoke inhalation amongst animals is a potential problem.  The equipment is more effective than human ones as it’s shaped to fit muzzles.
