Surrey County Council Consultation on Community Recycling Centres

Surrey County Council is launching a consultation about possible changes to community recycling centres.

The Council says that continued cuts to funding and rising costs means the need to find savings has reached unprecedented levels.  Among the Council’s proposals are the permanent closure of four smaller sites including those at Dorking and Warlingham.  It also suggests closing community recycling centres on two weekdays so all sites are open for five days a week, and it wants to end the free daily allowance of non-household waste.

There is more information on surreycc.gov.uk/recyclingcentres  with a questionnaire which goes live today.  Hard copies will also be available at CRCs and by calling 03456 009 009 or texting 07860 053 456. The consultation closes on Monday 7 August.

Final plans will be agreed by the Council’s cabinet this Autumn.
