Authority in charge of healthcare in Crawley put under ‘special measures’

The authority running health services in Crawley has been put in ‘special measures’.

An investigation has been launched by the NHS after Crawley Clinical Commissioning Group was branded ‘inadequate’ financially for being more than £5 million in debt, while last week its chief clinical officer Dr Amit Bhargava resigned.

The group is responsible for planning, buying and monitoring healthcare in the region.

Dr Laura Hill the acting accountable officer at the group said they’re “facing significant pressures” as “people live with more complex conditions for longer” but “ a robust and ambitious” Financial Recovery Plan was underway.
