Automatic compensation on Southern for smartcard users

Southern Rail passengers using the company’s smartcard instead of paper tickets are now being compensated automatically for delays.

The system similar to the Oyster Card used in London checks if a journey was held up, and if so will put in a claim.

Travellers on trains more than 15 minutes late are eligible for money back.
