The General Manager at Cottesmore Hotel, Golf and Country Club has promised to fight back following last Monday’s fire at the 19th century building.

Despite an estimated 50 per cent of the Pease Pottage Club being affected by the blaze, the golf course and self catering lodges are unaffected and continue to operate.  Cottesmore has been a family business since 1973 and was months away from completing a total refurbishment of the hotel and function rooms.

General Manager, Johnny Porter said that full refunds will be arranged for all weddings booked this year.  One of the firefighters involved in tackling the fire was due to get married at Cottesmore next month. Stephen Mundy, a Retained Fire Officer is now waiting for confirmation from another wedding venue.

Ten engines were in attendance at the height of the fire, along with several specialist vehicles including the aerial ladder platform, and specialist officers.  Everyone who had been in the building was accounted for and there were no reported injuries.

An investigation into the cause of the fire continues.
