The people of Sussex and Surrey celebrated with the rest of the nation on Saturday following the England football team’s 2-0 win in the World Cup quarter finals against Sweden.
The celebrations at Box Park in Croydon were praised by Gary Lineker on TV during half time when he commented “Croydon’s the winner so far” when comparing clips of other celebrations around the UK.
At the sound of the full time whistle, supporters were in full voice at The Junction pub in Redhill town centre.
Local supporters will be hoping for similar scenes when England take on Croatia in the semi finals in Moscow on Wednesday at 7 pm BST. It will be England’s first appearance in a World Cup semi final since 1990.
