Crawley Family Safely Escape House Fire

The quick action of a Crawley family helped contain a fire in their home.

Firefighters from Crawley and Horsham attended the fire in Winchester Road last Tuesday; the family had escaped quickly and had closed their upstairs doors on the way out.  This action contained the fire to the first floor bedroom and landing area helping the fire service to quickly bring the fire under control.

West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service has urged residents to close internal doors before they go to bed at night and when they leave their property.  The extra 20 minutes gained by this action can make the difference between getting a family out safely and saving the property, and losing a home to fire.
