Locals donate gifts for Crawley boy’s birthday

A boy from Crawley has been inundated with birthday presents after his mum said she couldn’t afford to buy any this year.

Brooke Webb says the response has been ‘amazing’ following her post on Facebook asking for age-related unwanted gifts for her son Brody’s sixth birthday.

The mum-of-two decided to post the appeal after her and husband had been put on reduced hours at work due to the pandemic.

Her post read: “Myself and my husband have both been put on reduced hours at work and with furlough coming to an end we are looking at a big pay cut.

“We have barely been getting through the months as it is and now I’m starting to panic.

“It’s my son’s sixth birthday in a few weeks time and we now cannot afford to buy him any gifts. I feel like the worst parent in the world.”

It now means Brody can enjoy his birthday properly this year with toys, a cake, balloons and football tickets.
