Surrey council to check free school meal parcels

Surrey Council is visiting a free school meal parcel supply hub to see what is being delivered.

It’s after complaints have been made on social media from around the UK about the quality and quantity of the food in the parcels.

The SCC Member for Lifelong Learning, Cllr Julie Iles, and new Executive Director for Children, Families, and Learning, Rachael Wardell, will shortly be visiting a food parcel supply hub to see the parcel contents and delivery operations for themselves.

Free school meals have been hitting the headlines recently after England and Manchester United footballer Marcus Rashford backed the campaign to extend the support during the holidays.

Reigate MP Crispin Blunt says Surrey will continue to provide support to ensure young people are adequately fed.
