A new initiative is due to be launched in March to help target unemployment among 18–24-year-olds across East Surrey.

The ‘East Surrey Youth Hub’ aims to support hundreds of young residents claiming Universal Credit in the area, by providing access to a wide range of coaching, mentoring and soft skills development.

There’s been a sharp rise in unemployment amongst the age group since the start of the pandemic. Both Reigate and Banstead, along with Tandridge councils are working together, with funding from the Department for Work and Pensions to combat the issue and help those overcome the barrier to employment.
