Beachy Head: Belle Tout lighthouse path cut off by fall

A former lighthouse now used as a holiday destination has had part of its access cut off due to coastal erosion.

The Belle Tout lighthouse on the iconic Beachy Head cliffs was close to a large landslide, where a significant portion of the cliff had fallen to the beach below.

HM Coastguard said the size of the fall illustrated the dangers of going too close to cliff edges, following a recent surge in people leaning over them.

Owner of the property David Shaw said the lighthouse is secure for a few more decades before we need to panic.
