Kent and Sussex to face hosepipe ban

A hosepipe ban will be imposed on Kent and Sussex after the driest July on record.

The ban will come into effect on 12 August and rule-breakers could be hit with a £1,000 fine.

South East Water said it “had no choice”.

July only had 8% of the month’s average rainfall, and the long-term forecast for August and September is for similar weather.
