Chrissy M talks to Samantha and Heide about Dementia Awareness

May 18th marked the start of Dementia Awareness Week.

Christine Muir talked in depth on this date to Samantha Lungu, Community Matron for People with Dementia and long term conditions and Heide Baldwin, Mental Health Nurse consultant, both from First Community Health and Care in Redhill.

Vehicles Destroyed in Horley Fire

Several vehicles in Horley were damaged by fire in the early hours of yesterday morning.

Officers were called to Balcombe Road around 4 o’clock.

It is believed the fire originated in the bin area at the rear of the Khush Boo restaurant, spreading to the vehicles.

Three vans were completely destroyed.

Wardens on Crawley Buses

Wardens could soon be seen on buses in Crawley.

It is in a bid to stop inconsiderate drivers parking at bus stops.

The move follows concerns that people with disabilities were not able to access buses – an issue highlighted by the Town Access Group.

Some of the worst affected areas include Downland Drive, Broadfield Barton and Ifield Drive.

Horley Mayor Elected

This week Horley Town Council re-elected Councilor Richard Olliver as Chairman and Town Mayor for 2014-15.

Councillor Mike George was elected as Vice Chairman and Deputy Town Mayor.

Councillor Olliver will continue to support St. Catherine’s Hospice as his main mayoral charity.

Fishing Attack Crawley

Two arrests have been made following an attack on two men whilst they were out fishing in Crawley.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning when the assailants approached the men at Tilgate lake and shot them after a verbal disagreement. Both men received head injuries along with injuries to the arm and hand.

Modestas Kubilius, 23, has been charged with two counts of ABH and possession of an air weapon with intent to cause fear of violence. Gintas Piscelinas, 25, has also been charged with possession of an air weapon with intent to cause fear of violence.

Both men appeared at Crawley Magistrates Court on Monday and are due to appear at Lewes Crown Court on 5 June.
