Past Laptops for our future

Cllr Martin Saunders of Horley Town Council has launched an appeal for old working laptops which may be stored away and sitting unused in a cupboard.

Martin is collecting these in order to refurbish them for donation to local schools so they can be used by families not able to afford their own equipment to get online. So far, 44 laptops have been generously donated.

Martin recently spoke with SUSY Radio’s Mark Tickner about the project:

If you have a working laptop which you don’t need any more, and it originally came with Windows 7, 8 or 10 please get in touch with Martin at martin.saunders@horleysurrey-tc.gov.uk.

One in four people with Coronavirus missed by NHS tracing system

It’s been revealed that more than one in four people who test positive for Coronavirus, cannot be reached by the test and trace system in England.

During its first two weeks of operation, 14,000 people were needed to be traced but less than 10,200 could be reached.

Ministers have said the public has a “Civic duty” to engage with the test and trace system and are urging people who are showing any symptoms to book a test immediately.

Cllr Martin Saunders’ appeal for unused laptops

Councillor Martin Saunders from Horley Town Council is aiming to help one hundred children and young people whose families cannot afford laptops.

During this time when remote learning is essential for schoolchildren to keep up with their education, Councillor Saunders is asking for anyone who can donate their old laptops, so they can be refurbished and passed on to those in need.

To reach Martin, simply go to the town council’s website and search for Martin Saunders.
