Exclusive: Monopoly World Record broken in Crawley

Hidden away in a large storage unit in Crawley an unusual World Record attempt took place this weekend, as Sussex resident Neil Scallan set out to beat the record for the most Monopoly board games in a collection.
The existing record, which was set in America, stood at 500 sets but after a day of checking, cataloging and photographing hundreds of sealed Monopoly sets on Sunday evening the record was passed and Neil Munday from Susy Radio was on hand to capture the moment.

The Monopoly games are all different themed versions of the well loved board game including sets based on Pokemon, Futurama, Coronation Street, Only Fools and Horses, and even an East Grinstead version.

At the end of Sunday evening the total of games verified in the SafeStore UK storage unit had officially passed 600 games but Neil and his volunteers were determined to carry on counting and cataloging the rest of the Monopoly sets that were still packed away in unopened brown boxes. Neil Scallon said it was a “mission” to take the record as close to the 2000 mark and by Monday night the total had climbed past the 1800 mark.

The site is free to use for all job seekers and job posters, with a minimal charge for urgent job calls. Pocket money job-seekers can register and be notified of jobs within 10km of their home. The simple and easy to use jobsite allows you to see what the average rate is for similar jobs in the local area. Anyone who wants to post a job on the job board have to confirm their details to Jobsqueak.com.

Alistair who launched the site said “When I was younger I use to go down to the post office and scan the jobs scrawled on pieces of paper in the window so I could earn some pocket money to buy the things I wanted…not just the things I needed. I don’t see many job like that in shop windows anymore but I’m sure there are a lot of people who need jobs done and lots of people wanting to earn pocket money to buy the things they want not just what they need.”

Although the site has launched in Reigate it is available across the world but it will only show jobs within the 10km range of the job-seekers location. Alistair also stresses that Jobsqueak.com is only for pocket money jobs and not for professional jobs.
