West Sussex Primary Schools reduce sugar intake

Primary schools in West Sussex have reduced the amount of sugar in meals by over 70% in the last 5 years.

The latest menu for children now includes just 5g of sugar a day on average, in contrast to the 18.5g of sugar back in 2014.

It is estimated that in total, the amount of sugar that has been removed from meals over a school year is the equivalent weight of more than five double decker buses.

Joint Fire Emergency Mobilising System For Surrey and West Sussex

Surrey and West Sussex fire and rescue services are to move to a joint 999 mobilising system.

The decision was made on Friday by West Sussex County Council’s Cabinet member for Safer, Stronger Communities.  West Sussex made a full assessment of the options available for mobilising systems with other fire and rescue services. The Surrey service was chosen due to its proven track record for reliability and capacity and for demonstrating good value for money.

Command and mobilising systems are used to dispatch fire and rescue service resources to emergency incidents. The aim is to migrate to the new joint system by February 2020.
