Gatwick Airport Worker ‘Run Over’ By Plane

A man has been injured by a plane while working at Gatwick Airport.

The man who had been working on the runway guiding planes, was hurt on Wednesday afternoon at the North terminal.  He was injured by a Russian-bound Rossiya Airlines aircraft. The South East Coast Ambulance Service said that a man was airlifted to hospital in London with an ankle and foot injury.  He has since been discharged.

The plane’s departure was delayed until yesterday.

The Air Accidents Investigation Branch is investigating.

Four Appear In Court Accused of Tandridge Burglary Offences

Four people have appeared in court for burglary and theft offences allegedly committed in the Tandridge area.  

Offences took place in several locations including Oxted, Warlingham, Caterham and Coulsdon; all occurred during February and earlier in March.  Four people were charged with conspiracy to commit burglary and conspiracy to commit theft, in relation to these offences. They include a 15 year old who cannot be named for legal reasons, Kane Corby and Jack Scott from London and Jason Raddon from Morden.  They all appeared at Staines Magistrates Court last Friday.

They have been released with strict bail conditions including electronic tagging to appear at Guildford Crown Court on 27th April 2019.

Councils Encourage Residents to Register To Vote

Reigate and Banstead Borough Council and Tandridge District Council are encouraging residents to register to vote in time for the district elections on 3rd May.  

Voters will go to the polls to elect the local councillor to represent them on the council. People who are not registered will be unable to vote. Anyone who has not yet done so can go online to register at gov.uk/register-to-vote.

The deadline to register is Tuesday 17th April.

Three men arrested during Crawley break-in

Two televisions stolen from a business premises in Crawley have been recovered.

The 60” screens were taken during a break-in at Willmott Dixon off Gatwick Road Sunday evening.

Officers arrested three men at the scene.  The suspects, ages ranging in their late teens to late twenties, have since been charged with burglary and are due to appear in court next month.

It is believed at least two other men may have been involved in the incident and police are requesting anyone with information to dial 101.

Sussex & Surrey Police reveal gender pay gap

Both Sussex and Surrey Police have released details of the gender pay gap between employees in the force.

This is ahead of the date set as part of new legislation requiring all UK companies with more than 250 employees to publish information detailing the percentage difference between average hourly earnings for men and women.

Sussex and Surrey Police have both reported their gender pay gap compares favourably with national figures.
