Prevent Survey

A survey to find out how much young people know about the Prevent strategy, which aims to support and safeguard them from the risks of terrorism, has been launched in Reigate and Banstead by Surrey Police.

It’s being sent to local schools and colleges to find out if young people between the ages of 14 and 19 know how to report their concerns.

The survey will be running for the next six weeks and there’ll also be focus groups to support its delivery along with access to the survey via social media.

Hi-Tech Weather for Surrey

This winter drivers in Surrey will be given better protection from Ice and Snow with a new hi-tech weather forecast.

Surrey County Council is introducing route-specific forecasts that focus on which roads will be coldest and need advance salting rather than whole areas.

The new forecasts are being introduced on the 11 priority gritting routes with one of the biggest swings in temperatures across an area including Mole Valley, Tandridge and Reigate & Banstead.

Crawley Town Hall is 50

Crawley Town Hall is 50 years old this month and a photo exhibition celebrating this milestone starts next Monday in the foyer of the building.

The building was officially opened on the 14th of November 1964 by MP Michael Stewart, the Secretary of State for Education and Science.

The Town Hall was built to serve a town of 75,000-80,000 people but the capability to expand upwards and northwards was included. Northward expansion, which included the multi-storey car park, took place in 1989.

Redhill Commuters Demand Discount

Redhill Commuters are demanding a 25% season ticket discount. This is to compensate for the disruption caused by the London Bridge station rebuilding work.

The rebuilding works mean that the busy 08:02 and 08:31 trains from Redhill are already being diverted via Victoria and from January the 06:56 and 07:51 will be axed.

Around 540 people have signed a petition calling for a discount on season tickets, which cost up to £3,400.00 pounds.

Southern apologised for the disruption, but said it would not be able to offer a discount. It also said it had worked hard to timetable as many trains as possible into London Bridge.
