M25 Multi Vehicle Accident

The M25 was closed yesterday morning anticlockwise between Godstone and Sevenoaks following a collision involving seven vehicles.

The incident occurred just before 9 am.  All emergency services attended the scene.  The Surrey Roads Policing Unit urged drivers to observe lane closure signs.  They stated on social media that they could not get further resources to the scene as the carriageway was blocked by drivers ignoring the closure signs. A diversion was in place via the A25 eastbound through Oxted.  There were severe traffic delays in the area.

There is no further information on the condition of those involved in the accident.

Tandridge District Council: Last Call To Register To Vote

Tandridge District Council has issued a ‘last call’ to residents to register to vote.

The new electoral register lists all the people entitled to vote at elections and will be published on 1st December.  Anyone who has not updated their Household Enquiry form can still amend or confirm their details. Failure to do this means being unable to vote in next May’s elections and risks a fine of up to £1,000.  Representatives from the Council are visiting households which haven’t responded.

More information about voting or the electoral register can be found at tandridge.gov.uk/voting.

Teenager Hurt After East Grinstead Burglary

A 17 year old boy who tried to stop the burglars he found raiding his family’s home, was struck on the head as they made their getaway.

The incident occurred just after 4 pm on Tuesday at a house in Pine Grove in East Grinstead. As the teenager entered the house, two figures in dark clothing wearing balaclavas ran past him carrying a small safe. The boy chased after them as they made off towards the A22 London Road.  A grey Volkswagen Golf pulled up beside them outside the Little Tigers nursery. As the boy tried to prevent their escape by opening one of the doors, he was struck by one of the hooded men wielding a metal object. He sustained only a minor injury. The car disappeared in the direction of East Grinstead town centre.

Several watches and a gram of gold are believed to have been among items stolen.

Anyone who saw the incident is asked to contact Sussex Police without delay.
