Man Arrested On Suspicion Of Attempted Robbery In Horsham

A man was arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery in Horsham on Wednesday night.  Around 10.30 pm a woman was walking in North Parade close to the junction with Rushams Road when she was approached by an unknown man holding a knife who demanded her belongings.  The woman screamed and ran away from the suspect.

He is described as tanned, of stocky build with short dark hair and unshaven, wearing a grey hooded top, dark grey tracksuit bottoms and dark shoes.  Officers located and arrested a man matching the description but no knife was found. The 32 year old man from Horsham was arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery and has been released under investigation.

Surrey Police Officer Suspended And Charged With Stalking

A Surrey Police officer has been charged following an allegation of domestic related stalking.  

PC Marc Sturrock, based at Reigate Police Station was arrested in October and placed on restricted duties.  He has been charged with stalking relating to an alleged offence committed last year and will appear at Maidstone Magistrates Court on 1st June.  

Post charge, he was immediately suspended from duty.

Football Update

In League 2 Crawley Town were left frustrated in their final home game of the season as they succumbed to a 2-1 defeat by Crewe Alexandra at the Checkatrade Stadium on Saturday.  The result means that Crawley sit in 14th place ahead of next weekend’s trip to Mansfield Town, their final game of the season.

It was the last league match for many of our local teams on Saturday.  Merstham drew 1-1 at home to Enfield Town and finish in 18th place in the Bostik Premier Division.  Merstham meet Leatherhead on 1st May in the Surrey Senior Cup Final.

In the Bostik South Division South Park lost 6-2 away to Thamesmead Town and finish in 13th place.  Horsham are 15th after losing 5-2 at home to Whyteleafe, and East Grinstead lost 4-0 away to Ramsgate and finish third from bottom in 22nd place.

With more matches still to take place elsewhere in the Combined Counties Premier Division, it was the last match of the season for Redhill who lost 3-2 away to Camberley Town. The Lobsters sit in 6th place with their final place to be decided next week once all other matches have taken place.  It was a goalless draw for Horley Town at home to Sutton Common Rovers.  30Horley’s last match will be next Saturday when they travel to North Greenford United.

Approved: Redevelopment Plan for Ellice Road Car Park In Oxted

Tandridge District Council’s full Council meeting has approved the planning application for the redevelopment of the Ellice Road car park in Oxted.  

Work is expected to begin in June and be completed by the end of the year. The application is for a car park with 300 spaces including parent and child spaces and charging points for electric cars.  

While the work is taking place, arrangements are being made to create alternative parking in the town.

Football Update

In League 2 Crawley Town managed to thwart Exeter’s bid to climb into the top three, at St James’ Park on Saturday.  It was a 2-2 draw with goals from Enzio Boldewijn and Josh Yorwerth for the Reds.

In the Bostik Premier Division, Merstham lost 3-0 away to Hendon.

Horsham lost 2-1 away to VCD Athletic in the Bostik South Division and East Grinstead Town lost 3-0 at home to Hythe Town.  South Park gained three points, winning 4-1 at home to Molesey.

Redhill remain in 5th place in the Combined Counties Premier Division after beating Knaphill 1-0.  Horley Town lost 2-0 away to Chertsey Town.

Redhill and Horley meet tomorrow evening in a local derby at Kiln Brow.  Kick off is at 7.45.
