Tributes paid to Reigate archaeologist found dead

Tributes have been paid to an archaeologist from Reigate found dead at his flat last Friday.

Sixty-seven-year-old David Williams was a long-standing member of the Surrey Archaeological Society and Weald and Downland Metal Detecting Club and had been involved in digs in Surrey and across Europe.

Police were called to his home following concerns about his welfare after he  had cancelled a lecture a few days before and then did not turn up to work on Friday.

Sussex and Surrey NHS fails in A&E waiting time targets but outperforms in cancer treatment

The NHS Trust which covers Sussex and Surrey has failed waiting time targets for A&E and planned operations.

93.2% of people were seen within four hours in A&E, below the 95% target, while 86.1% waited less than 18 weeks for an operation, which is below the target of 92%.

However, the trust was above the 85% target of cancer patients receiving treatment within 62 days, with 87.5% getting medical care within the time frame.

The news comes as the NHS is expected to face even more pressure this winter.
