Tandridge District Council: New Parking Enforcement Provider

Sevenoaks District Council is now managing off street parking enforcement in the Tandridge area. Tandridge District Council awarded the contract to Sevenoaks following a tender process. The new contract commenced on 1st September and will run for two years.  

The Council owns and manages around 700 car parking spaces across 14 car parks including those in Oxted, Hurst Green, and Lingfield.  

On street parking enforcement in Tandridge will continue to be carried out by Reigate and Banstead Borough Council on behalf of Surrey County Council.

£40,000 worth of jewellery stolen in Redhill

Over £40,000 worth of jewellery has been stolen from a house in Redhill.

Thieves entered the property on Buckhurst Close by smashing its patio doors on Tuesday.  They also made off with £2,000 of cash.

Police have asked people in the jewellery trade to contact them if they’re suspicious of anyone who’s offered them items recently.

Man left with head injuries after attack in Redhill

A man has been left with head injuries following an assault Redhill.

It happened on Wednesday afternoon in the town centre near the Memorial Park.

Police believe it was an unprovoked attack and are appealing for witnesses.

Detective Constable Rob Fitz-Gibbons who is leading the investigation said: “This seemingly unprovoked attack occurred in broad daylight and we would urge anyone who saw or heard anything to contact us.”

38% of West Sussex children an unhealthy weight

38% of 10 to 11 year-olds in West Sussex are an unhealthy weight.

While almost 9,000 children in the county claim a free school meal.

The figures have been highlighted by the leader of Crawley Council, Peter Lamb, who says ongoing cuts to social security and a fall in real wages due to inflation, mean children’s futures are increasingly being determined by their parents’ success.

Writing in the Crawley Observer he backs Labour’s Real Living Wage as a way of ensuring kids get three meals a day.
