Study launched to look at how transport investment could help the region’s economy

A study has been launched to look at how much the region’s economy could grow with more investment in road and rail improvements.

It aims to unite both politicians and businesses, to give decision makers a clear message about what needs to be done in the area.

It’ll be published in April, just before the next round of investment decisions by Network Rail and the Government.

Football Update

Crawley Town lost 2-1 in their League 2 match against Stevenage on Saturday.  James Collins scored for the sixth consecutive home league goal but it wasn’t enough as Stevenage came from behind to take all three points, scoring the winner in the 95th minute at the Checkatrade Stadium.  Crawley remain in 16th place as they head to Blackpool tomorrow.

Several matches were postponed on Saturday due to waterlogged pitches.  Merstham, South Park, Redhill and Horley Town’s matches were all postponed.

It was game on for Horsham’s away match at Carshalton Athletic thanks to the host’s 3G pitch, but Horsham lost 5-1.  East Grinstead won 3-0 to Molesey at East Court and Three Bridges gained a much-needed point, drawing 1-1 away to Chatham Town.

New Dial-a-Ride Service for Tandridge Area

East Surrey Rural Transport Partnership has been awarded funding from Tandridge District Council to provide dial-a-ride services.

The new service will start from 3rd April and will include transport around the district, to the Douglas Brunton Centre, and the opportunity for residents to book days out.  This follows a review of community transport aimed to improve the service which generally serves older people and people with disabilities.

The new service will provide more comprehensive access for the whole district which was previously served by a range of smaller providers.

13 butchered deer found in Felbridge

13 mutilated deer bodies have been found by the side of a lane in Felbridge, 6 weeks after a similar incident in the same place.

The heads, legs and offal were left to rot on Stud Pond Lane, an area frequently used by families for walks and horse riders.

Ken Harwood, the Councillor for the area has called it a “disgusting act by some callous individual,” and says it would’ve be horrifying for a child to see.

Police are currently investigating.
