Two men suspected of shoplifting in East Grinstead

Police are on the lookout for two men believed to be responsible for thefts totalling more than £1600 from a Boots store in East Grinstead.

The suspects have been seen entering the store on several occasions throughout August.

During the most recent visit a female security officer was pushed aside when she challenged them.

Prison sentence for driver who caused the death of Redhill soldier

A 27 year-old man responsible for the death of a soldier from Redhill has been sentenced.

Coldstream Guard Ben Regan died after being struck by a car in a hit-and-run incident in Bell Street, Reigate back in June.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle, Jake Polmeer, handed himself into police following media coverage of the collision.

He was found guilty of causing death by careless driving having previously admitted to causing death by driving a vehicle while uninsured.  Polmeer was sentenced to 21 months imprisonment and banned for driving for 27 months,

A woman from Horley, who was in the car at the time of the incident, admitted permitting the use of a motor vehicle with no insurance.

Gatwick to Moscow Route Starts Next Month

A new daily service from Gatwick Airport to Moscow will be launched next month.  The service will be provided by Aeroflot, Russia’s national airline, and will start on 15th November.  

The new route to Sheremetyevo International Airport from London Gatwick, joins over 20 other new long haul routes launched from Gatwick this year.

East Surrey and North Sussex Football Update

Crawley Town climb to fifth place in League 2 after winning 1-0 at home to Blackpool on Saturday.  Mark Connolly scored his first goal of the season, as the Reds made it four games unbeaten.

Merstham are through to the fourth qualifying round in the FA Cup for the first time in their history after winning 5-1 in their third round match at home to Thamesmead Town.   

In the Ryman South League, Three Bridges lost 3-0 at home to Dorking Wanderers.  South Park gained three points after winning 1-0 in their away match to Chatham Town.  East Grinstead made it two wins in four days after winning 2-0 at home to Sittingbourne.

Elsewhere Horley Town lost 2-1 away to Windsor.  Redhill FC suffered defeat against the league leaders, losing 3-0 to AC London.  This was Redhill’s first home game of the season after renovation works were completed at Kiln Brow.

 

Healthwatch Response to SE Coast Ambulance Trust’s CQC Report

Healthwatch Surrey, has issued a response following the Care Quality Commission’s recommendation that the South East Coast Ambulance Trust be placed in special measures.  

Healthwatch Surrey is an independent consumer champion which gathers and represents the views of the public. Kate Scribbins from Healthwatch Surrey expressed their disappointment and urged the public to help in two ways; to share their experience of the ambulance service with them and to volunteer with Healthwatch to help improve services.
