Woman to go before Redhill Magistrates Court charged with fraud

A woman has been bailed to appear at South East Surrey Magistrates Court in Redhill in connection with a fraud offence.

The 46 year old has been charged with six counts of fraud by false representation.

It follows an incident where an 83 year-old victim received a call purporting to be a bank official, requesting confidential information.

A courier was sent to the victim’s property to collect her bank card and almost £3000 was taken from the account over the following days.

 

Reigate residents urged to remain vigilant

Residents in Reigate are being urged to remain vigilant following a spate of burglaries.

Doods Road and Carlton Road have been the target of thieves.  Four burglaries and an attempted burglary have been reported.

Surrey Police are investigating whether they are linked to recent break-ins in Redhill, Banstead and Horley.

Residents are being reminded to contact police as soon as they see anything suspicious.

Woman arrested for shoplifting in Horsham

Following an appeal by Sussex Police, a woman has been arrested for questioning over shoplifting in Horsham town centre.

The 21 year-old has accepted a process of community resolution in agreement with the shop concerned.

Enquiries to trace two other suspects continue as part of Operation Retail.

One suspect is described as an elderly white man thought to be involved in the theft of magazines from WH Smith.

The other is a white man in his late teens with ginger hair who is suspected of stealing various items from the Co-Op on North Parade.

Sexual Assault in Redhill

A woman was sexually assaulted in Redhill in the early hours of last Saturday morning (21 Feb)

The incident took place in Carlton Road near the tennis club just before 1am.

The victim, in her 20s was walking down the road when she was approached from behind by a man.

After allegedly touching her inappropriately, he ran away in the direction of London Road.

The man’s described as of average build, 5’ 8” with short hair and wearing dark clothing.

Crawley Self Pay Kiosk

Crawley Borough Council’s introduced a self-pay kiosk, giving customers the ability to make council tax and other payments without queuing for a cashier.

The touchscreen kiosk, on the ground floor next to Cashiers, accepts cash, debit and credit cards quickly and securely. The machine has voice assistance if required.

Contact Centre staff will be on hand to help between 8.30am and 5pm Monday to Friday if they forget.

Councillor David Shreeves, Cabinet member for Customer and Corporate Services, said: “The self-pay kiosk forms part of our plans to improve options for customers and make accessing council services easier.
