New Bewbush Surgery

A new, much larger GP surgery for Bewbush residents could open in Breezehurst Pavilion, thanks to Crawley Borough Council and the NHS.

The proposed new practice would be able to accommodate 5 GPs – more than twice the number at the existing Bewbush Medical Centre in Bewbush Place. The centre would also accommodate the growing population in neighbouring Kilnwood Vale.

Councillor Chris Oxlade, Cabinet member for Community Engagement welcomed the development, and said that it will be good news for thousands of Bewbush residents.

Man Arrested For Crawley Fraud

A man’s been arrested on suspicion of fraud after he tried to scam cash out of a couple from Crawley.

They were called by a man pretending to be a police officer on Monday (16 February) who told them someone was trying to withdraw money out of their bank account and they should draw £2,000 immediately from their bank.

They withdraw the money and were told a man would arrive that evening to collect the cash. At 6pm a man wearing a police badge arrived and they gave him the money.

The next day they became suspicious it was a fraud and called police.

Sussex Police officers were with the couple at their home in Copthorne on Tuesday (17 February) when they received another phone call from the man saying that he had arrested a man in possession of their bank card. He told them to withdraw cash and hand it over to a courier who was on his way to their address.

A taxi arrived and officers briefed the driver and he took them to London to the drop off address. The driver was approached by a man who asked to hand over a package.

Officers then arrested an 18-year-old London man on suspicion of fraud and he remains in custody.
