Sports Roundup

In a pretty good weekend for our local teams, Marvin Elliott’s double on his home debut secured Crawley victory over Yeovil by 2 goals to nil at the Broadfield stadium on Saturday afternoon. The win moves the Reds up to 12th in League One.

In the Ryman League South, South Park beat Ramsgate by 3 goals to 1 in a thrilling away match. Meanwhile, Three Bridges came out 2 – 1 winners at home to Whitstable Town.

And in the FA Cup second qualifying round, Redhill overcame Tonbridge Angels 2 – 1 at Kiln Brow. The only negative this weekend was Merstham’s 2 – 1 away defeat at Whitehawk.

Weekend Football

In football, it was another poor league one performance as Crawley Town went down 2 nil at Preston.

Not much better in the Ryman League, where Redhill lost 1 nil at home to Walton Casuals, while Three Bridges lost 1 nil at Walton and Hersham. And it was a massive 4 nil home defeat for East Grinstead who were hosting Sittingbourne.

On a more positive note, South Park managed a 2 all home draw against Chipstead and Merstham had a good away performance drawing 3 all at Hythe.

Tuesday Football Update

In their league one match on Tuesday evening, Crawley Town picked up a valuable away point at Doncaster. The game at the Keepmoat stadium ended nil nil.

In the FA Cup First Qualifying Round Replay, South Park crashed out, losing 3 nil to the Met Police at Imber Court.

And in the Ryman South, Redhill went down 3 nil at Carshalton Athletic and East Grinstead Town suffered a 4 nil away defeat at Herne Bay. Meanwhile Three Bridges drew 2 all at home to Whyteleafe.

Mayor Attends Synergy Sports Academy

East Grinstead’s Mayor,  Councillor Nick Hodge and East Grinstead and District Lions President Brian Richens attended Synergy Sports Academy’s training session last Saturday (13th September)

Mr Richens presented Zara Munday, National Bronze medalist (15 – 16 years) a cheque for £250 to go towards much needed new club equipment. And yes this is our own Neil Munday’s talented daughter.

The Mayor was then challenged by club members to “have a go” on the trampoline. The challenge was accepted and the Mayor along with his daughter had a go followed by the Lions president.

All successfully completed some basic moves to a huge round of applause!

Synergy Sports Academy is a competitive trampoline & double mini trampolining club, that train at Kings Leisure Centre, East Grinstead.
