Football Update

In League 2, Crawley Town gained three points after winning 2-1 away in a dramatic match at Yeovil yesterday.  Yeovil were down to nine men after receiving two red cards. It was a late finish at Huish Park as a drone stopped play in the 79th minute; players had to be removed from pitch for 10 minutes while the drone was dealt with. The Reds’ winning goal came from Thomas Verheydt in the 98th minute.

In the Bostik Premier Division, Merstham lost 4-0 at home to Worthing.  

Our local Sussex teams were in action yesterday in the Bostik South Division; Horsham won 2-1 at home to Lewes but East Grinstead Town lost 3-1 away to Hastings United.  South Park’s match against Carshalton Athletic was postponed.

Crawley Wasps LFC Book Place in Sussex FA Women’s Cup Semi Finals

Crawley Wasps Ladies Football Club ended a successful 2017 by booking a place in the Sussex FA Women’s Cup semi finals with a 2-0 win over Chichester City’s development squad on Sunday.

Wasps have reached the final in both of the past two seasons.

Crawley Wasps go into 2018 unbeaten this season, with just three losses in 23 games in all competitions in 2017.

Football Update

In League 2, Crawley Town lost 3-0 away to Crewe Alexandra on Saturday.  The Reds finished the game with nine men after skipper Jimmy Smith and Jordan Roberts were both sent off.

In the Bostik Premier Division, Merstham gained a point in their goalless draw with Burgess Hill Town at the Green Elephant Stadium.

In the Bostik South Division East Grinstead drew 3-3 at home to Thamesmead Town. Horsham won 2-1 away to Ashford United and South Park’s match against Hastings United was postponed.

In the Combined Counties Premier Division Redhill gained 3 points after winning 2-1 away to Guildford City.  Both goals were from Elijah Simpson. Horley Town are in 7th place after a 1-1 draw at home to Knaphill.
