Forest Green clash a ‘must win’ for Reds

Crawley Town’s captain, Jimmy Smith, says Saturday’s clash against Forest Green Rovers is a ‘must win game’.

He also says last weekend’s loss against Wigan Athletic was because they made some costly mistakes.

They will be hoping for a positive impact from Thomas Verheydt who has just returned from a prolonged injury and is getting back to full fitness.

Football Update

Crawley Town are out of the FA Cup at the first-round stage for the fourth season in a row.  The Reds lost 1-0 away to Wigan on Saturday.

In the Bostik South Division Horsham won 2-1 away to Faversham Town, and South Park lost one nil at home to Cray Wanderers.

It was bad news for our local teams in the Combined Counties Premier Division;  Horley lost 5-0 at home to Abbey Rangers and Redhill lost 2-0 away to Balham.  The Lobsters now face a six  game winless run in the league with four defeats and two draws.

Crawley striker’s return gives team more options

Crawley Town’s Thomas Verheydynt is confident fans will soon see the best of him after returning from a knee injury on Tuesday against Bognor Regis.

He has admitted he needs to work on his fitness and speed but is pleased to be back.

Something coach Harry Kewell is looking forward to, saying the Dutch striker’s return gives the team more options.

The Reds travel away to play Wigan Athletic tomorrow – kick-off is at 3pm

Football Update

Crawley Town travelled to Lincoln City on Saturday.  The Reds remain in 19th place in League 2 after the third goalless draw in four games.

In the Bostik Premier Division Merstham drew 1-1 away to Sittingbourne.  In the Bostik South it was a goalless draw for Horsham’s home match against South Park, and East Grinstead Town gained a much needed 3 points after winning 1-0 away to Phoenix Sports.

Three Bridges held league leaders Peacehaven and Telscombe to a 1-1 draw in the Southern Combination Football League premier division.

In the Combined Counties Premier Division, Horley Town are in fourth place after their 3-3 draw away to Farnham Town.  Redhill FC now face a five game winless run in the league losing 4-1 at home to Hanworth Villa.30
