Football Update

Merstham won their second FA cup qualifying round replay, 2-1 away to Colliers Wood on Wednesday.  Merstham will host Thamesmead Town in the third qualifying round on 1st October.

In the Ryman South League, South Park move up 6 places to 15th after winning 3-1 away to Lewes on Wednesday.

Abbey Rangers 1 – 8 Crawley Wasps

Crawley Wasps have maintained their unbeaten start to the season in their FA Cup campaign.

They beat Abbey Rangers away by 8 goals to 1.

Danielle Boyd scored four times, Roseanne Fine hit a hat-trick and Holly Walker completed the scoring to set up a tie with Oxford City Ladies in the next round.

Wasps are just two wins away from the first-round proper.

East Surrey and North Sussex Football Update

Crawley Town celebrated their first win in three league matches on Saturday.  The Reds won 2-0 at home to Luton, taking them to 13th place in League 2.  

In the second qualifying round of the FA Cup, it was a goalless draw for Merstham at home to Colliers Wood.  South Park are out of the Cup, losing 4-1 at home to Leiston, the team at the top of the Ryman Premier Division.

In the Ryman South Division, Horsham lost 3-2 away to Sittingbourne.  Three Bridges also lost 3-2 in their away match with Cray Wanderers.

Elsewhere, Horley Town lost 2-1 at home to Hartley Wintney, but Redhill enjoyed a staggering result, winning 10-0 away to Cove, almost breaking the club’s record win which dates back to 1949.  Tony Halsey and Chris Ransome both completed hat tricks.

 

Dame Kelly Holmes Supports Run Reigate

A special guest attended the Run Reigate event in Priory Park yesterday.  

Dame Kelly Holmes supported the event by starting races, awarding prizes and handing out medals.  Run Reigate, a fundraising event to help local charity partners, comprised a half marathon, 10K race and a kids’ race.  Runners could support some of the partner charities or choose their own special cause.  

The amount raised for charity this year has yet to be announced but the event organisers hope that the total raised since the event started, will reach half a million pounds.
