Izale McLeod grabbed a hat-trick as Crawley Town responded to the midweek drubbing against Doncaster by thrashing managerless Barnsley by 5 goals to 1 at the Broadfield Stadium on Saturday afternoon

The win sees The Reds move to within two points of League One safety and just five points behind Barnsley.

In the Ryman League, Redhill succumbed 5 nil at Walton and Hersham, while Merstham lost 4 -3 at home to Burgess Hill Town. The sorry story for our local sides continued with East Grinstead Town losing 3 nil at Favesham Town.

Crawley Town moved off the bottom of League despite another loss at Yeovil Town on Saturday afternoon. Despite taking the lead in the first half through an Izale McLeod goal, the Reds succumbed 2 -1 and remain on 27 points – 4 from safety.

And there were no wins for our local sides in the Ryman League. Redhill lost 1 – 0 at home to Whyteleafe, while South Park lost 2 – 0 at Hythe. Merstham and Herne Bay shared the points in a goalless match, East Grinstead and Ramsgate scored one apiece while Three Bridges managed 2 away goals to draw with Hastings United.

Substitute Lee Fowler fired home the winner on his debut as relegation-threatened Crawley beat play-off chasing Preston .on Saturday afternoon

The win moved The Reds up to 22nd place, while Preston remained fourth in the League One table.

Meanwhile in the Ryman League, Redhill enjoyed a convincing 4 – nil away win at Horsham, while Merstham beat Hasting United 2 -1 at home.

The matches between Three Bridges and Guernsey, South Park and Herne Bay and East Grinstead Town and Whyteleafe were postponed due to the weather.

Redhill also shared the points in a 3 – 3 home draw against Hythe Town, while Merstham had the best local result of the day demolishing Whyteleafe – and it was an away win.
