In Cricket, Robin Peterson kept his nerve to steer Surrey to a three-wicket win over Worcestershire on Saturday and secure a place at the T20 Blast finals day. Set 142 to win, they wobbled to 128-7 before Peterson (24no) won the game with 21 balls left.

And in football, 3 goals in the last 11 minutes sent Crawley Town to a 3-2 defeat against Chelsea under-21s in their final pre-season friendly at the Broadfield Stadium.

Crawley were in control at half-time thanks to a terrific volley from Josh Simpson and Izale McLeod’s low finish.

John Gregory changed the entire team during the second half and The Reds struggled to maintain their superiority and Chelsea struck three times to stun Crawley’s fans.

Meanwhile goals from Cox, Folkes, Rhule and Hutchings assured Merstham of a famous 4 – 1 victory against Grays Athletic at Moatside.  There’s more home action on Tuesday when Merstham face Kingstonian.

Crawley Town Pre Season Match

Last night (Wed 31st July) Crawley Town beat Woking by 2 goals to 1 in their latest pre-season friendly.

The Reds travelled to Kingfield and put on an encouraging display with goals coming from Izale McLeod and Emmett O’Connor.

Crawley’s league one season starts on Saturday August 9th, with an away tie at Barnsley.

Cycling champions to race in Surrey

Former world race cycling champion Philippe Gilbert and multiple Tour de France stage winner David Millar will be competing on Surrey’s roads next month.

They are among the first names to be announced for the Prudential RideLondon – Surrey Classic.

Team Sky’s Ben Swift and Simon Yates, who made his Tour de France debut this year will also be taking part in the race on the 10th August.

Surrey residents are expected to turn out in force to see 150 of the world’s top men race over an extended, tougher route as part of the Mayor of London’s annual festival of cycling.

Crawley Town Result

On Saturday Crawley Town FC were held to a 3-3 draw by Conference newcomers Eastleigh in a pre-season friendly.

This evening  (Monday 28th July) the Reds travel the short distance to Jubilee Field where they face Three Bridges in a 7.45 kick-off.

Crawley Town Pre Season News

Crawley Town suffered their first defeat of the pre-season campaign at the hands of Championship side Fulham on Saturday afternoon at the Broadfield Stadium.

Two first half goals from the Cottagers were enough to separate the two sides in a fairly even contest.

It was the first chance for fans to see the new-look Crawley team with nine new signings starting for John Gregory’s side.

Next up for the Reds is a home encounter on Wednesday with local rivals Brighton and Hove Albion.
