Local Football Matches Postponed Due To Frozen Pitches

It was a quiet day for our local football teams on Saturday.

Crawley’s League 2 home match against Wycombe Wanderers was postponed due to a frozen pitch.

It was a similar story for all Bostik Premier and South Division League matches for teams in the Susy Radio area.

In the Combined Counties Premier Division, Redhill’s home match against Farnham Town and Horley Town’s away match to Hanworth Villa were also called off.

Football Update

Yesterday’s Sussex Senior Cup semi final between Crawley Town and Saltdean was postponed because of health and safety concerns following the bad weather.

The Sussex FA will confirm a new date for the fixture as soon as possible.

The other semi final is between Brighton and Hove Albion and Pagham, and takes place on 13th March.

Football Update

Crawley Town slip to 11th place in League 2 after losing 2-0 away to Forest Green Rovers on Saturday.

Merstham remain in 12th place in the Bostik Premier Division following their 3-1 away win to Brightlingsea Regent.

In the Bostik South Division, South Park drew 1-1 at home to Faversham Town, and Horsham also gained a point from their 1-1 draw away to Hythe Town.  East Grinstead’s home match against Herne Bay was postponed due to a frozen pitch.

In the Combined Counties Premier Division, Redhill won 4-0 at Kiln Brow against Chertsey Town.  It was a goalless draw for Horley Town in their home match with Camberley Town.

Win for Reds could be the most important so far

Crawley Town’s win over Lincoln City at the weekend could prove to one of the most important of the season says defender Josh Yorwerth.

After their recent 4-1 loss to Luton, he’s said the team needed to ‘bounce back’ and show what they are capable of.

The 3-1 victory on Saturday’s lifted the Reds onto 51 points, meaning they are within 2 points of a playoff place.

They play Forest Green Rovers this coming weekend in a game Yorwerth believes they can get a good result.
