Tea and Cake as Surrey East Girl Guides celebrate the Queen’s 90th Birthday

Up and down the country people are joining in the festivities in honour of the Queen’s 90th Birthday.

Susy Radio’s Natalie Osborne and Dave King were invited to Faurefold, the campsite and activity centre for Surrey East Girlguiding near Wescott in Dorking, to help celebrate Her Majesty’s birthday in true girlguiding style.

Aside from lots of tea and cake, Natalie and Dave met some very interesting characters, some of whom have been involved for over 80 years and have shaken hands with members of the royal family. They heard from local Councillors who have supported the fundraising efforts to rebuild the accommodation at Faurefold and learned about the role Girlguiding still has in today’s society.

Ambulances Destroyed By Fire At East Surrey Hospital

Three ambulances have been destroyed in a fire outside the East Surrey Hospital in Redhill.

The fire started in a parked ambulance outside the east entrance to the Hospital before spreading to the other two vehicles.

Huge plumes of black smoke could be seen rising into the air at the height of the fire.

Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust said there were no patients involved and everyone was safe.

The hospital was closed to emergencies, and patients diverted through the South East Coast Ambulance Service.

Fire crews, who were called out at 2:20pm on Monday afternoon, managed to bring the fire under control and the hospital re-opened shortly after 6pm
