Interview with Jackie Wren – Oxted & Tandridge Councillor

The local elections took place on Thursday 5th May.

Although Tandridge District Council remained in Conservative control, the biggest surprise of the night was the success of Jackie Wren, an independent candidate representing the Oxted and Limpsfield Residents’ Group.

She gained a seat in the Oxted North and Tandridge Ward from Conservative candidate and Leader of the Council, Gordon Keymer who had held the seat for 28 years.

Tracey Franklin met up with the new Councillor, Jackie Wren who described the atmosphere on election night.

Neil lived on the showground on the Saturday night so as to be ready for Sunday morning’s live breakfast show at 8am through to 10am, then commentating the main arena for the rest of the day.

Izzie very bravely took part in a stunt performed by motorcyclist, Steve Colley – we’re glad she lay very still!!

YMCA Sleep Easy

Saturday Night in Merstham saw a Cardboard village appear outside the Battlebridge Scout hut.

IMG_6583 IMG_658220 volunteers made up of youth members, supporters and local councillors gave up their time to experience sleeping rough and being homeless as part of the national “YMCA Sleep Easy” event.

The constructions in cardboard with plenty of tape to hold them together proved challenging for some.

A very cold and unshaven Councillor Frank Kelly from Merstham braved the night in a cardboard box at temperatures around 2 degrees spoke to Susy Radio.
