Alex Nye completes 100 mile charity triathlon

Late on Saturday evening, Alex Nye completed a triathlon of over 100 miles, and in doing so also raised money for MHA Communities East Surrey (Methodist Homes)

MHA Communities is part of MHA, an award-winning national older person’s charity providing care and support services for more than 18,000 people.

As the only national care provider to offer connected care and support through specialist care homes, thriving retirement living and vibrant community groups, the organisation is a leading light in later life care.

Alex Nye has been passionate about fitness for over 20 years and has raised money for many amazing charities by undertaking Marathons, Triathlons and Ultra Marathons.

Saturday’s triathlon was particularly challenging for all taking part given the extremely warm weather which caused participants to finish later than originally planned.

The triathlon involved:

  • Swimming from the Isle of Wight to Lymington (about a mile!)
  • Riding from Lymington to Guildford (about 80 miles!)
  • Running from Guildford to Reigate (about 20 miles)

All in a day!

Alex’s wife, Julia, works for the East Surrey branch of ‘MHA Communities’ based in Redhill, and spoke with SUSY Radio’s Neil Munday at the finish line in Priory Park, Reigate prior to Alex completing the course:

Alex has already exceeded his original target of £1,000 for MHA Communities East Surrey thanks to the generosity of donors and more donations are sill welcome.
