Detective Inspector Alan Pack of the West Sussex Community Investigation team said:
“Drug issues have a huge impact on the community and we want to send out a strong message that we will not tolerate this type of behaviour.

“The recent proactive policing action we have been conducting has made the area e very hostile one for those involved with drugs and we want to ensure this message continues. Those involved in this criminality need to know that we are tackling this issue and you will be dealt with accordingly.

“Our officers investigate and prosecute, working relentlessly and targeting those who would bring harm to local people, including often the most vulnerable.

“Quite often, these drug dealers are targeting the homes of vulnerable people, a term we call cuckooing.

“Cuckooing means the criminals can operate from a property rather than on the street, making them less easy to identify, and often they move between different properties to cover their activity.

“We will continue to disrupt dealers who try to deal dangerous drugs across our communities.”

Horley School rolls out red carpet for returning pupils

Burstow Primary School in Horley has welcomed back its returning pupils in style by rolling out a red carpet.

Balloon arrangements and bubbles were also used to welcome the children and their teachers transforming the mundane drop-off into something more glamorous.

Reception teacher Charlotte Solomon said:
“We’re really excited to see the children and have them all back”.

Head teacher Claire Hodgson says she thinks the children should be applauded for “conquering” the lockdown, and that people are doing them a disservice by labelling them “victims” of the pandemic.

Mobile Covid-19 Vaccination Bus Comes To Surrey

Surrey’s first Covid vaccination bus has opened its doors in Merstham.

The Surrey bus has been introduced by Metrobus in partnership with a local GP Federation and the Council. The Alliance for Better Care is staffing the Mobile Vaccination Unit which is based at the Merstham Community Hub. Vaccinations are by GP invitation only.

The project aims to get the vaccine to hard to reach vulnerable communities.  The bus was adapted by the company’s engineers who removed handrails and seats.

It’s the second bus offering Covid vaccinations in the region.  The original vehicle began offering the jab in Crawley last month and was the UK’s first Mobile Vaccination Unit.

Alliance for Better Care is a GP Federation covering East Surrey, Crawley, Horsham and Mid Sussex.
