An estimated four weeks’ worth of lengthy traffic delays are expected around Reigate Hill.

The southbound direction of the A217 is now closed to motorists between the junctions of Brokes Road and Birkheads Road.

It’s so that ageing gas pipes can be replaced with a new plastic type that is said to have a lifespan of around 80 years.

The work is being carried out as part of a larger programme to help ensure a safe and reliable supply of gas to local homes and businesses.
