Local Government Reorganisation: Crawley BC’s Preferred Option

Crawley Borough Council has submitted its preferred option for Local Government Reorganisation.

Its preference is for two unitary authorities in West Sussex, one of which would cover the current Crawley, Horsham and Mid Sussex council areas.  Both Crawley Borough and West Sussex County Council would cease to exist.

The recommendation was made at last week’s Full Council meeting following engagement work undertaken during the Summer.

Meanwhile the County Council has expressed a preference for a single unitary authority covering the whole of West Sussex.

The Government will assess the submissions before launching a consultation on the options that it decides to take forward to the next stage.
