After a month from the large sinkhole opening up on Godstone High Street it’s been reported that Tandridge District Council has allocated up to £800,000 from its general contingency fund for temporary accommodation for up to 12 months.
Since the initial incident, some additional minor collapses have occurred leading to one council officer describing it as a “fluid situation”.
Some residents out of the original thirty evacuated households have been able to return home while others have been told it may be up to a year before they can go back.
Highway teams are working on the site in a situation that is continuing to develop. Council officers said return dates would depend on the safety of the site, along with connection of utilities and structural integrity of the houses.
