No Confidence Vote for Reigate & Banstead BC’s Leader

A motion proposing a vote of no confidence in Reigate and Banstead Borough Council’s Conservative leader was debated at the Full Council meeting last Thursday.

The motion didn’t receive a majority vote, meaning the current Leader, Councillor Richard Biggs, remains in post.  However it was a close call;  42 councillors attended the meeting with 20 voting in support of the motion, 21 voting against, and one abstention.

Councillor Biggs said that with local government reorganisation imminent, stability is needed to continue to work at pace to deliver key projects.
