Lollipop men and women at some crossings in West Sussex will be given bodycams.

The scheme follows reports of dangerous driving, drivers failing to stop, and incidents of verbal abuse towards school crossing patrol officers.

After a four week trial at selected schools in the county, incidents were halved where the cameras were used.

West Sussex County Council said that the cameras will be a preventative measure and that footage will be used to support police investigations where necessary.
