Bus Strikes in Crawley and Brighton Are Called Off

Planned strikes due to take place today and next Monday by over a thousand bus workers in Crawley and Brighton, have been called off after workers voted to accept a pay offer.  They will now receive an overall pay offer of 5.2%. 

Additionally the Unite Union says the Copthorne depot, who were on a lower hourly rate, have accepted a 7% pay rise and an agreement over sick pay which they didn’t previously receive.

Transformation for East Surrey Hospital’s Outpatient Pharmacy

The refurbishment of the Boots Outpatient Pharmacy at East Surrey Hospital has been completed. 

New seating has been installed in the store for patients who need to wait. Screens in the pharmacy and the main entrance to the hospital show when medication is ready to collect using an electronic prescription tracker.  A new consultation room provides a space for confidential conversations with a pharmacist. 

Starting with patients on some long term anti cancer treatments, a text messaging service will soon be introduced to notify patients when their medication is ready for collection, either from the Boots pharmacy at the hospital or an alternative location.

In League 2, Crawley Town lost 3-1 away to Cambridge United on Saturday.

Merstham and Three Bridges drew 1-1 at Moatside.  Three Bridges are in second place in the Isthmian League South East Division table.

Dorking Wanderers drew 1-1 away to Chelmsford City in the National League South.

Dorking Wanderers Women are out of the FA Cup losing 1-0 to Bromley yesterday at Hayes Lane.

In the South East Counties Women’s Football League, South Park Reigate lost 9-3 away to Jersey Bulls.

Extra Schools in Surrey now Included in Neurodiversity Scheme

Surrey County Council’s Partnership for Inclusion of Neurodiversity in Schools has officially launched its second year.

The original pilot scheme which is a collaboration between NHS England, the department for Education and other local partners aim to enhance inclusion for neurodiverse children.

The original pilot phase started out with just 41 schools but this year an additional 29 have been added across the county bringing the total number up to 70.

Up to 30 hours of tailored support is now available per school, including occupational therapy audits, speech and language therapy, and neurodiversity champion training.

Are you Vaccine Ready for Winter in Surrey?

Surrey residents are being reminded to check what vaccinations they may be eligible for this winter.

Nearly 80% of people aged 65 and over received the flu vaccination last year which was above the national average.

The NHS say a variety of vaccinations will be available to patients who meet the criteria, including Covid 19, which is available for those who are at highest risk of serious disease.
