A number of flight were diverted from Gatwick Airport after a plane temporarily block the main runway early yesterday morning

The British Airways plane was met by emergency services as a precaution upon landing, following reports an issue with the landing gear.

The aircraft was towed of the runway  and it was reopened at approximately 1:30am.

There were a number of delays to arrivals and departures from Gatwick Airport on Wednesday, although it was not clear if these were connected to the earlier runway closure.
