Midnight Walk 2024 – St Catherine’s Hospice

St Catherine’s Hospice Midnight Walk 2024 on Saturday 8th June was a brilliant success with approximately 700 walkers across a 20 mile, 13 mile, 7 mile and 2mile route with a shared goal of raising much needed funds to support the incredible work of the hospice.

It was an evening mixed with emotion with the fun of the event walking under the stars (no rain!), together with remembering loved ones, with many ‘walking in memory of’.

The below 8min montage is from the Sunday Brunch show with Clive Hilton capturing the spirit of the event with various interviews and concluding with Giles Tomsett, Chief Executive.

Merstham Community Cinema Launch

The Merstham Community Hub has launched its own Community Cinema on Saturday 11th May 2024.

Based on insights gathered from the local community in 2023, it became clear that there is not much to do entertainment-wise in Merstham!

Recognising the financial strain, typical cinema ticket prices and transportation challenges, the Merstham Community Cinema launched with the showing of Wonka.

There will be monthly films (2nd Saturday of the month) with tickets available from the Merstham Community Hub – listen below to find our more and hear the reaction of locals.

Gatwick Gaming @Gridserve

If you want to try out modern board games packed with fun and strategy… (not Monopoly, Risk or games of luck) plus make friends, then Gatwick Gaming meet every Wednesday from 6-10pm at GRIDSERVE (on the left as you drive into Gatwick South Terminal). There is plenty of free parking for the event whether you have an EV to charge or not and easily accessible via public transport.

Whether you are familiar with board games or a complete novice – all are welcome and typically there are 30-40 others. Clive Hilton (Susy Sunday Brunch) joined Wednesday evening to find out more (below). Some of the board games played: Someone got a pet in ‘aydria’, some space shenanigans in ‘from the moon’, pure absurdity in ‘Muffin time’, rustled up some cattle in ‘great western trail’ and plenty of others

Join in this Wednesday? find out more by searching Gatwick Gaming on facebook.

New School Places for Surrey

720 New School Places Created In Surrey

720 new school places are set to be created by the council as part of the biggest investment program in surreys history.

The council’s Cabinet will consider proposals to boost capacity at six schools including schools in the reigate area.

Surrey needs to find 16,000 extra school places by 2018 because of a rise in demand from an increasing birth rate. Of those, the council is aiming to create up to 3,000 by next September.
