Plans have been announced for a new Urgent Treatment Centre at East Surrey Hospital in Redhill.

The purpose built centre will sit alongside the existing Emergency Department creating a single front door for people with non life-threatening emergencies.  The hospital is one of only a handful in the region without a co-located Urgent Treatment Centre.  It aims to offer faster assessment, diagnosis and treatment in one place, and getting more people home the same day with the help of the newly expanded Same Day Emergency Care services.

The new two storey building which is backed by £8.6 million of capital investment from NHS England, is at the final design stage.  Subject to approval, construction is expected to start this summer with the service opening in the second half of next year.

In the South East Counties Women’s Football League, Oxted & District enjoyed a 3-2 victory over Chessington and Hook at Master Park.  Merstham Women lost 3-1 at home to Sutton United Reserves.

Launch of Memorial Bench Scheme for Goffs Park

Crawley Borough Council has announced the launch of a memorial bench scheme for Goffs Park.

The scheme is similar to the existing one at Tilgate Park and has been introduced in response to growing interest in ways to honour relatives and friends who have passed away.  Carefully selected locations within the park allow benches to complement the natural landscape while offering a place of comfort and remembrance.

A limited number of benches are available in the initial launch; each memorial bench costs £1,500, includes a personalised plaque and is made from sustainable composite materials.
