Susy Photo at Surrey Photo Awards

 

Recently, Natalie Osborne, Chris Spring and our Chairman Neil Munday attended Guildford Cathedral for the Community Foundation for Surrey’s photographic awards.

Susy’s photo showing community involvement was taken whilst providing a roadshow in Memorial Park Redhill last November. The photo taken by Natalie Osborne shows Neil in full action entertaining the children who were joining in the dance routine. It received a commendation awarded at a presentation ceremony in Guildford Cathedral.

The overall winners were “The Freewheelers Theatre Company” who received a well deserved cheque and provided a demonstration of dance and movement to music in front of assembled guests and dignitaries.

Susy Radio allocated 103.4 FM

When Susy Radio goes on air you’ll be able to hear us on 103.4 FM.

103.4 FM, the frequency issued by Ofcom, is currently in the process of gaining international clearance. We feel pretty confident of approval so 103.4 FM will be ours for the next 5 years.

With test transmissions due to start in the spring, Programme Director Geoff Rogers commented; “The frequency allocated is a great choice and will allow us to provide excellent reception to our service area.  It’s also located roughly between two of the bigger local radio stations on the FM dial and will be very easy to find.  This is a very positive step forward”

Managed and run entirely by volunteers, Susy Radio is a not-for-profit radio station soon to be broadcasting to Redhill, Reigate, Horley, North Crawley and surrounding villages.

Susy radio gets encouragement from Crawley MP

Susy Radio  received encouraging words from Henry Smith, MP for Crawley. Awarded a 5-year Ofcom community radio licence, Susy Radio are working towards being on air next Spring. Staffed and managed by volunteers, Susy Radio is run as a not-for-profit company by a diverse range of people passionate about local radio.

Crawley MP, Henry Smith showed support for the station, commenting: “The Ofcom approval of Susy Radio as a new local broadcaster is great news for Crawley and the surrounding area to the north in Surrey as this part of the south east has been without such dedicated coverage for almost a year.”

Mr Smith also said it would be fantastic to visit Susy Radio who are currently in the process of fitting out the studios based in Merstham.

Broadcasting in the area for more than 10 years on an occasional basis, Susy Radio is all about the community and anyone wishing to get involved can contact the station via the website http://www.susyradio.com or e-mail office@susyradio.com

Susy are also on the look-out for sponsorship or donations to cover set-up and running costs that give the station the resources it needs to meet local needs.

Thanks for attending

On behalf of everyone involved with Susy Radio, I’d like to thank everyone who attended the open meeting last Sunday evening at  The Farmhouse, Langshott.  It was so nice to see so many people who clearly care about local and community radio and who feel so strongly that the area is having a raw deal and are prepared to commit themselves to support our project.  I hope we managed to speak to most of you and we have taken contact details and will keep you informed as to how the project is progressing and about any future meetings.  In the meantime please keep coming back to this website for more information, see our Facebook page and our Twitter feed.

Susy Open Meeting – 27th Feb 2011

As you may know, last June, Susy Radio was granted a Community Radio Licence from OFCOM to broadcast on FM to Redhill, Reigate and surrounding villages. Susy Radio is working very hard at this moment preparing for our launch in the Autumn. Many things need to be attended to, including fundraising, signing up advertisers, and gathering local people who are interested in, and wish to help the project,

Your support is needed, whether you would like to advertise or provide a small donation or if you just have an interest in radio, we need *you*. If you’d like to be involved maybe as a production assistant, administrator, presenter or other voluntary position in this terrific community project please come and meet us. We are holding an open evening for all from 5pm on Sunday 27th February at “The Farmhouse” public house, Langshott, Horley. Please do come along and meet the Susy Radio team.
